Is MATLAB compatible with macOS Catalina?

MATLAB R2019b is compatible with macOS Catalina:

System Requirements - Release 2019b - Mac

Earlier versions of MATLAB do not officially support macOS Catalina. They may work, but we do not guarantee full compatibility with these releases on macOS Catalina.

We are currently aware of the following incompatibilities when running MATLAB on macOS Catalina:

1. Live Editor issues in MATLAB

Live Editor will not launch on macOS Catalina in MATLAB R2019a or earlier. To use Live Editor on macOS Catalina, upgrade to MATLAB R2019b.

2. Help Browser issues in MATLAB

Help Browser will not launch on macOS Catalina in MATLAB R2019a or earlier. Use our Online Documentation instead.

3. Property Inspector issues in MATLAB Figures

When you open the property inspector in a MATLAB figure window, it may display a blank property inspector window in MATLAB R2019b or earlier. There is currently no workaround.

4. Symbolic Math Toolbox issues

When creating symbolic variables or expressions using the Symbolic Math Toolbox, MATLAB R2019a or earlier will throw the following error:

Error using mupadmex
Error in MuPAD command

To use Symbolic Math Toolbox on macOS Catalina, upgrade to MATLAB R2019b.

5. Issues with MATLAB and Simulink Support Packages for Arduino

It is currently not possible to use MATLAB or Simulink Support Packages for Arduino on macOS Catalina.

This is because the support packages currently use Arduino IDE 1.8.8 version which has 32-bit binaries. Starting with Mac OS 10.15 Catalina, support for all 32-bit applications has been withdrawn. It only supports 64-bit applications.
